The Crown Estate Scotland has finally opened registration for the forthcoming Innovation and Targeted Oil and Gas Decarbonisation (INTOG) leasing round.  Through INTOG, eligible developers can apply for exclusive seabed rights in the U.K.’s North Sea in which to locate floating offshore wind farms to provide green power to the U.K.’s offshore oil and gas platforms.

London-based Energy partner Gavin Watson told Reuters, “INTOG is significant not only for the carbon abatement it will help achieve, but also for the critical supply chain it will create for floating offshore wind facilities in the U.K.”

“The round also plays an important part in demonstrating the continued role decarbonized oil and gas has to play in the renewable energy transition, something often forgotten,” he concluded.
