Pillsbury partner and Energy practice section leader Jeffrey Merrifield was officially named Chairman of E4 Carolinas during the regional energy trade association’s 2018 Annual Meeting on October 22. Merrifield, a founding member of E4 Carolinas, succeeds Ronak Bhatt, who had held the position since 2016.

Founded in 2012, E4 Carolinas is a leading trade association for Carolina energy companies and organizations. It has more than 150 members today, many of whom convened at the Annual Meeting to consider a slate of six additions to its 18 member Board of Directors, including Merrifield.

“Since its founding, E4 of the Carolinas has become the leading voice of the energy industry in the Carolinas, as well as being the leading cross-state energy association in the  U.S.,” noted Merrifield. “I look forward to working with E4 President David Doctor to expand the growth of the organization in the Carolinas, as well as increasing the national impact of the organization.”

A partner in Pillsbury’s Washington, DC office, Merrifield utilizes the wide range of energy-related experience he has gained over the last 30 years to bring his clients a unique perspective on strategic problem-solving. He previously served two terms as Commissioner of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, worked as an attorney in the U.S. Senate and was as a senior executive at the largest power engineering and construction company in the United States. Merrifield’s well-received media and public speaking capabilities also provide a significant resource for the advocacy of common-sense and cost-effective solutions.
