In his article “Grocery Industry's Cybersecurity Challenges: Harbinger of Threats to Corporate America,” Forbes contributor Richard Levick discusses the effects of cybersecurity breaches and cyber threats in the grocery industry. He delves into how organizations can handle the responding to such crises, pulling from discussions that took place at Pillsbury’ Crisis Management Conference on June 1.

Levick stresses a company’s risk will “never be zero,” agreeing with Crisis Management team leader Tom Campbell when he says, “Failing to prevent a cyber breach will injure a company, but failing to rapidly respond to the crisis that follows can kill it.”

“Businesses of all stripes have to understand that today's cyber threats go well beyond simple 'smash and grab' data thefts,” says Bryan Finch, co-chair of Pillsbury's Privacy, Data Protection, and Cybersecurity team.

Finch also adds that organizations must be prepared to stop or minimize the impact of cyberattack, since they provide legal vulnerabilities and can slow or stop incoming revenue.
