Pillsbury, along with the Clean Air Task Force, the EFI Foundation, the Nuclear Threat Initiative and the Oppenheimer Project, is proud to co-host a closed-door breakfast and roundtable on opportunities and challenges in the global nuclear energy ecosystem during New York Climate Week. The roundtable will present the Nuclear Scaling Initiative, a new multi-organization collaboration that aims to kickstart the deployment of nuclear energy globally at a pace that can achieve the COP28 goal of tripling by midcentury.
This off-the-record conversation will highlight the nuclear energy ecosystem and identify how NGOs can be better empowered to constructively engage in the ongoing nuclear renaissance across industry, governments, labor and communities. It will introduce the Nuclear Scaling Initiative, a multi-organization collaboration designed to support bold policymaker and government decision-making, development of public/private risk sharing mechanisms, efficiencies and learnings across borders, meaningful talent development and community engagement. The Nuclear Scaling Initiative will drive a call to action across the board, including from NGOs, to help shape a safe, efficient and accepted scale-up of new nuclear.
In addition to featuring the Initiative, this roundtable will feature important and respected global voices on nuclear energy to highlight current opportunities and realities, to share their perspectives on ecosystem changes, alongside those of key funders and advocates.
