Who’s Who Legal, a London-based publisher that celebrates the world’s leading lawyers, has named San Francisco Litigation partner John Heisse as its “Lawyer of the Year” in Construction for 2017. He was presented with the award on May 15 at Plaisterers’ Hall in London.

Heisse, who represents global developers, builders, owners and designers, has made the Who’s Who Legal list of North America’s top 10 construction lawyers for the last four years. He was named by Best Lawyers as its 2014 and 2016 “Lawyer of the Year—San Francisco” in Construction Law; and is consistently recognized by Chambers USA and The Legal 500 U.S.

This year, Heisse successfully defended a major Japanese manufacturer and several of its U.S. subsidiaries in an ICC Arbitration involving claims in excess of $7 billion stemming from the claimed failure of certain critical components manufactured and supplied by our clients to the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. His clients were found to be the “prevailing party,” and were awarded fees and costs in excess of $58 million.

Heisse is the immediate past chair of Pillsbury’s Construction Counseling & Dispute Resolution team, and is currently the leader of the group’s California practice.
