Latin Lawyer has shortlisted the Chapter 11 restructuring of Brazilian airline Azul for its 20th annual Deal of the Year Awards.
Pillsbury served as restructuring and aviation counsel to AerCap Ireland Limited, the largest aircraft lessor to Azul and party to a restructuring support agreement with Azul.
On February 25, 2026, Azul announced the successful completion of the restructuring process and emergence from Chapter 11. Through the Chapter 11 case and plan of reorganization, Azul achieved a comprehensive balance sheet and operational transformation and reduced its funded and fleet debt by more than $2.5 billion.
