A team of Pillsbury lawyers represented Motley Fool Ventures in leading a $10 million Series A investment in startup Esusu, the leading fintech company for rent reporting and credit building.

The investment was joined by world-class athlete and businesswoman Serena Williams, through Serena Ventures, along with The Equity Alliance, Predictive VC and notable angel investors. Previous seed round investors Concrete Rose Capital, Impact America Fund, Global Impact Fund, Next Play Ventures and Zeal Capital Partners also participated, bringing Esusu's total funding raised to $14 million.

“Pillsbury’s business-focus, responsiveness, and broad expertise allowed us to lead the investment in Esusu with confidence,” said Lawrence Greenberg, Venture Partner at Motley Fool Ventures. “We are grateful for the work of the entire Pillsbury team.”

The funding will be used to scale Esusu’s business, increase cybersecurity and support the company’s mission to provide its service to underserved populations.

The Pillsbury team was led by M&A partner Matthew Swartz and Corporate senior associate Lindsey Livingston.
