Last month, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Division announced its Civil Cyber-Fraud Initiative which will use the False Claims Act (FCA) to enforce cybersecurity requirements in federal government contracts. This was followed in short order by the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) proposed overhaul of its cybersecurity requirements for defense contractors (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification or CMMC 2.0).

The speakers:

  • Detail the key provisions of the Civil Cyber-Fraud Initiative
  • Explore the open questions surrounding this initiative that government contractors should carefully consider
  • Discuss the limits and challenges in obtaining insurance coverage for FCA claims
  • Examine the DoD’s CMMC 2.0 requirements and anticipated assessment regime
  • Discuss best practices to strengthen cybersecurity compliance, following the DOJ’s and DoD’s new initiatives
