Pillsbury partner Andrew Troop has been named Practice Section Leader of the firm’s nationally recognized Insolvency & Restructuring practice. He takes over the role from partner Leo Crowley, who had served in that capacity from 2003 to 2008, and from 2018 to 2022.

“In addition to being a highly regarded restructuring lawyer—and having played a key role over the past two years on one of the world’s most well-publicized bankruptcies—Andrew is known for his even temperament, collaborative demeanor and firm-first mindset,” said Firm Chair David Dekker. “Each of these traits are sure to serve him well as he settles into his new role.”

Troop advises a global clientele on business reorganizations, debtors’ and creditors’ rights, and crisis response, representing them in high-profile cases and related litigation. He also represents nonprofits in debtors’ and creditors’ rights matters, and has distinguished himself representing states in complex restructurings where state priorities and the U.S. Bankruptcy Code intersect. Among his many high-profile engagements, Troop represents the Ad Hoc Group of Non-Consenting States, which consists of 24 states and the District of Columbia, in the chapter 11 bankruptcy of Purdue Pharma and affiliates.

Troop will work closely with Crowley, who will continue his practice in the firm’s Insolvency & Restructuring and Litigation sections, to ensure a smooth transition over the coming months.

“During his tenure, Leo strengthened and grew the section, including bringing on and successfully integrating five lateral partners amid one of the most turbulent markets in history,” Dekker noted. “For over four decades, he has been selfless in his stewardship of the firm, and we are grateful for all of his many contributions.”
