The Stimson Center, a non-partisan think tank in Washington DC, has been investigating blockchain (or more specifically, distributed ledger technology, DLT) and its implications for non-proliferation and international security. In particular, Stimson's Blockchain in Practice program is studying the impact of DLT on organisations and people within 4 main streams: nuclear safeguards, nuclear security, the peaceful trade of dual-use chemicals and export controls.

Come listen to Cindy Vestergaard, Director of Stimson's Nuclear Safeguards and Blockchain in Practice programs present on Stimson's activities and learn how their research has moved to the stage of testing the tech with a DLT prototype to be developed for Finland's national system of nuclear material accounting. This will be the first such test in the field of safeguards for a nuclear regulator.
