Pillsbury today announced the addition of a litigation and corporate team on the West Coast, comprising three partners and several additional professionals. Partners Tom Liu and Stacie Yee join the Litigation practice in the firm’s Los Angeles office, and partner Jenny Liu joins the Corporate & Securities practice in San Francisco. The group comes to Pillsbury from Squire Patton Boggs.

Tom Liu, who serves as head of the group, is an employment lawyer with more than 25 years’ experience advising companies based in the United States and internationally on all aspects of labor and employment litigation and counseling. He focuses on employment discrimination and harassment claims, wage and hour class actions, labor audits, unfair competition and trade secrets, in addition to various types of employment contracts, agreements and policies. His clients span the transportation, hospitality and manufacturing industries, among others, and he is a frequent speaker and corporate trainer on labor and employment issues.

Yee’s practice also focuses on labor and employment law matters, in addition to complex commercial litigation. She advises clients on wage and hour, wrongful discharge, discrimination and retaliation/whistleblower litigation, in addition to non-compete/trade secret matters and preventative employment law counseling. She has experience in all aspects of pretrial and trial proceedings.

“Tom and Stacie are leading employment law practitioners who have a wealth of experience in the core service areas where many of our clients have needs,” said Litigation partner and practice co-leader Kirke Hasson. “Their addition expands our strength in serving those key business needs across industries and offices, and we’re thrilled to welcome them to the firm.”

In her corporate law practice, Jenny Liu represents private and public companies, investment banks and other financial institutions, in addition to private equity and venture capital firms. She focuses on equity financing transactions, loan and credit agreements, cross-border mergers and acquisitions and foreign investments in China. Although Liu will be located in San Francisco, she also will spend time in Pillsbury’s China offices.

“Jenny’s experience is a tremendous addition to the firm’s China practice in the venture capital, corporate finance and transactional areas,” said Tom Shoesmith. “China continues to be a growing center for technology and emerging-growth companies, and the pace of U.S.-China bilateral investment continues to increase. Moreover, the significant China focus of this team brings the firm’s overall China team to nearly 40 lawyers across seven offices.”

Partner Jim Rishwain noted: “Tom, Stacie and Jenny are held in high repute in their respective practices, and their experience presents myriad opportunities to deepen our services in areas that are vital for our clients. Furthermore, the team’s addition contributes to the long-term expansion of our cross-border and China-focused services, building on the other major moves we have recently made in Shanghai and Hong Kong.”

“Stacie, Jenny and I are delighted to join Pillsbury,” Tom Liu said. “The firm’s renowned Litigation and Corporate & Securities teams offer ample opportunity to grow our practices and serve our clients in new ways, and we very much look forward to working as a group in the firm’s collaborative environment.”
