Business Travel News reports plans for a Brazilian airline to launch service in the U.S. have been initially approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation. An order from the DOT Wednesday indicated tentative approval of the application from Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras, an airline created by JetBlue Airways and WestJet Airlines co-founder David Neeleman. Azul in June announced plans to schedule daily flights from São Paulo to Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando and to begin daily service to New York’s JFK airport in 2015.

Pillsbury partners Josh Romanow, Jennifer Trock and Nancy Fischer, along with associate Peter Nelson, are advising Azul in regard to its U.S. licensing and traffic rights.
