A number of Pillsbury alumni traveled fair distances to attend our September reunion events in the San Francisco and New York offices, but three who logged the greatest mileage were rewarded with bottles of wine produced by a fellow alum's award-winning vineyard.

Retired San Francisco partner Alson Kemp donated the wine from his Sorpresa Vineyard, located in the Dry Creek Valley region of Sonoma County, near Healdsburg. Alson is known for nurturing his grapes as though they were his own children and producing award-winning Zinfandels and Syrahs. His actual son, Colin, is a current senior litigation associate in the San Francisco office.

The recipients of the donated wine included Kevin Koepke, who traveled to the New York alumni event from Plymouth, Minnesota, where he currently runs his own practice. The San Francisco winner was Ken MacKay, who traveled to alumni event from Tokyo, where he currently practices with White & Case. An additional bottle was awarded to San Francisco's second-furthest traveler, Mary Kay Sheridan, a lawyer-turned-entrepreneur based out of Durham, North Carolina.
