SAN FRANCISCO—Pillsbury today announced that partners Kimberly Mann in Washington, DC, and Ildiko Duckor in San Francisco will co-lead the firm’s Investment Funds & Investment Management (IFIM) team.

With more than two-dozen business and litigation attorneys in San Francisco, New York, London, Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, Tokyo, and Washington, the IFIM group represents investment advisers, including private equity, hedge fund and mutual fund managers, and commodity pool operators and commodity trading advisors, on fund structuring and formation and ongoing regulatory, investor relations and compliance matters. The group also represents investment funds and institutional investors in connection with investment transactions.

“We are thrilled to be promoting two eminently qualified women to head up our Investment Funds & Investment Management team,” said Pillsbury chair Jim Rishwain. “Kim and Ildiko will lead a group of talented attorneys in providing a full range of services to a diverse array of clients on both the manager and investor sides of the investment management industry.”

“IFIM is a multidisciplinary practice — and Kim and Ildiko’s stated mission for the IFIM group is to connect group members across Pillsbury’s U.S. and international offices with Pillsbury’s other practice groups, to provide fully integrated services to our clients,” added Robert B. Robbins, head of Pillsbury’s Corporate & Securities practice.

Kimberly Mann, who joined Pillsbury in 1997, is an experienced attorney who represents domestic and international fund sponsors, general partners, fund managers, and institutional investors. She structures, organizes, and negotiates terms of private equity, real estate, and other types of investment funds, counsels on matters pertaining to investor relations and has significant experience advising fund managers, investment advisers, and broker-dealers on registration and regulatory compliance with federal and state securities laws. As part of her diverse practice, Mann represents large institutional investors in connection with their alternative investments. Mann is a member of the ALI-CLE faculty and serves on its Regulation D Offerings and Private Placements panel.

“I am very excited to partner with Ildiko in leading a brilliant group of attorneys dedicated to providing the highest-quality legal services to Pillsbury’s IFIM clients, as well as our other corporate and securities clients around the world,” Mann said.

New partner and IFIM co-leader Ildiko Duckor has almost 20 years’ experience in investment management regulation, specializing in hedge funds. Duckor provides strategic and legal advice for hedge fund managers, other investment advisers, and commodity pool operators on a wide range of issues relating to the structuring, registration, operation, and management of their advisory firms as well as their domestic and offshore private funds. She has extensive experience with managed account, funds-of-one, and sub-advisory arrangements, as well as negotiating on managers’ behalf investments by institutional investors (“side letters”) and “seed” capital arrangements. She provides ongoing regulatory counseling to her clients, including advice for developing compliance and internal control policies and procedures.

“I am proud to help guide Pillsbury’s IFIM group,” Duckor said. “It will be a pleasure to serve our investment management clients with such a talented, enthusiastic and collegial group of attorneys.”

Pillsbury also announced today the partnership promotion of André Brewster, IFIM team member in San Francisco. Brewster, who joined Pillsbury in 2012, has more than 35 years of business and securities law experience. His practice centers on registered and private investment funds as well as investment management regulation. His clients include investment companies, investment advisers, broker-dealers, and diverse other financial institutions and intermediaries. A member of the ABA Business Law Section’s committees on investment services and federal securities regulation, he also advises clients on public offerings, private placements, regulatory filings, and compliance.
