Pillsbury’s Washington, DC-based Energy partner Jeffrey Merrifield was newly appointed to the United States Nuclear Industry Council’s (USNIC) Board of Directors, as the sole board member from a private law firm.
Merrifield is co-leader of Pillsbury’s Energy practice. He has previously served as Commissioner of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (1998 2007), an attorney in the U.S. Senate and a senior executive at the largest power engineering and construction company in the U.S.
“I am honored to be the only private practice lawyer appointed to the USNIC’s Board of Directors, the leading global nuclear energy business consortium,” said Merrifield. “I look forward to the future of the USNIC and the impact my experience will contribute to success of the board and the growth of the nuclear industry.”
Merrifield advises his clients with a unique perspective on strategic problem-solving given his wide-ranging experience. He is considered a leader in advanced nuclear deployment and has assisted large and developing nuclear utilities and suppliers in effectively meeting their regulatory requirements and strategic objectives at a reduced cost.
