Pillsbury partner Brian Finch has been named a recipient of a 2015 Distinguished Legal Writing Award from The Burton Awards. In its 16th year, The Burton Awards recognize the finest in legal writing. Finch was recognized for a series of articles for Fox Business.com on the subject of cybersecurity.

A partner in Pillsbury’s Washington, DC office, Finch co-chairs both the firm's Cybersecurity and Global Security practice groups. His practice focuses on counseling companies on how to manage the numerous complex legal and policy issues associated with physical and cybersecurity threats, as well how to proactively mitigate liability from such threats. Brian has particularly deep expertise in counseling companies on the SAFETY Act, a federal safe harbor statute intended to shield companies from tort liability following physical or cyberattacks.

The Burton Awards is funded by the Burton Foundation, a non-profit, academic effort devoted to recognizing and rewarding excellence in the legal profession. Nominations are submitted by law firms and include exemplary articles that have been published by their lawyers during the past year. Out of the 1,000 largest law firms in the United States, only 35 winners are selected each year.

The award was presented during a black-tie gala held at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, which was attended by dignitaries including U.S. Supreme Court Justices, top law firm partners, law school deans and leading law professors from across the nation.
