The American Lawyer has recognized Pillsbury with a Global Legal Award for its representation of Natixis in LATAM Airline Group S.A.’s $1 billion issuance of Enhanced Equipment Trust Certificates (EETCs). The awards program honor the law firms that played “a substantial role in the most distinguished international work” undertaken between January 1, 2015, and April 15, 2016.

A Pillsbury team led by New York partner Mark Lessard represented Natixis, as liquidity provider and depositary, in the magazine’s Aviation Finance Deal of the Year. The offering marked the first-ever EETC issuance out of Latin America and is one of just a few non-U.S. EETC issuances. It was also the first EETC to combine two jurisdictions.

The firm will be honored at a special awards ceremony in New York on September 26, where winners of the overall Finance Deal of the Year award will be announced. The LATAM transaction is one of just seven financings under consideration for that grand prize.

Pillsbury's Transportation Finance practice is a leader in structuring, negotiating and closing transactions relating to aircraft and other transportation assets for clients across the globe. In just the last five years, the firm has advised on transactions involving more than 1,500 aircraft and totaling in excess of $75 billion. The group is consistently recognized by industry analysts—including Chambers, which has named Pillsbury one of the leading aviation finance firms in the world—and has received numerous awards for its innovative work.
