Pillsbury and the American Law Institute (ALI) today announced that Finance and Energy partner Robert A. James was elected on October 16, 2015 to ALI's membership.

Organized in 1923, the ALI is the leading independent organization in the United States producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize and improve the law. The Institute created and maintains the Restatements of the Law, the Model Penal Code and other respected works and programs that influence the development of jurisprudence nationwide and abroad. ALI membership is limited to 3,000 regular members and includes United States Supreme Court Justices and other distinguished jurists, academics and practitioners.

Rob is co-leader of Pillsbury’s Energy & Infrastructure Projects team, and is based in the firm’s San Francisco and Houston offices. His global practice focuses on energy project development; acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures; complex supply and licensing arrangements; and engineering, procurement and construction contracts including public-private partnerships. He writes and speaks frequently on energy, environmental, construction and business history topics, including presentations at the Program for Energy & Sustainable Development at Stanford University. Rob is a graduate of Stanford University and Yale Law School and has served as a lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.
