The Houston Business Journal has identified Rosa Walker, Pillsbury’s Director of Diversity and Inclusion, as a Finalist for inaugural Diversity Awards in the category of “Individual – Outstanding Head of Diversity.” Winners will be announced at an awards event on Nov. 9 at the Hilton Americas in downtown Houston.

Walker, who also serves as the Director of Administration for Pillsbury’s Houston and Austin offices, was named a finalist along with James Harris, the Director of Diversity and Inclusion at H-E-B, Sharon Scheckter, the Director of Employee Engagement of Global Custom Commerce, and Maya Thornton, the HUB Director at the University of Houston.

Walker took on firmwide responsibilities as Pillsbury’s Director of Diversity and Inclusion in 2014. Since then, she has rolled out numerous firmwide programs. Among those, Pillsbury has hosted live implicit bias presentations in all its major offices. Walker engaged Ida Abbott in leading Pillsbury’s “Breakfast of Champions” program for men sponsoring women. And, the firm hosted its first ever LGBT Attorney Network Conference in August in San Francisco. In September, Walker hosted the Attorneys of Color Conference in San Diego. This three-day event featured sessions on personal and professional development, including building personal brands and personal “boards of directors.”
