The recent string of violent attacks on members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community are both horrible and intolerable. They are also just the latest disturbing instances of anti-Asian sentiment and harassment in the U.S., with the number of hate crimes against AAPIs increasing by more than 1,900 percent since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is outrageous and cannot stand.
Pillsbury stands with all members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, inside our firm and out. We remain committed to advancing equal justice for everyone and will continue to do our part to combat the scourge of racism and prejudice in all forms.
Aware that all positive change starts with a better understanding of the problem at hand, Pillsbury recently convened a panel of experts to explore the origins and history of anti-AAPI sentiment in the United States and outline concrete steps that could meaningfully address it.
