New York Executive Compensation & Benefits senior partner Susan Serota has been awarded the 2018 Distinguished Service Award by the American Bar Association’s Taxation Section. The award will be presented during the Saturday plenary session of the section’s May meeting, taking place in Washington, DC from May 10 to May 12.

The ABA Taxation Section considers the Distinguished Service award on an annual basis and presents the award to an individual who has a distinguished career in taxation and who represents a standard to which other tax lawyers can aspire. The section calls Serota “a trailblazer who has been a leader in her law firm, in the field of employee benefits and in the organized bar.”

Serota is the former chair of the ABA Section of Taxation, and she is consistently recognized in Chambers USA, The Legal 500 U.S. and Best Lawyers. She is adept at helping clients understand the employee benefit aspects of cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, welfare plans and securities law matters. She represents an international clientele on issues ranging from employee benefits and compensation arrangements to global equity programs and ERISA fiduciary matters.
