Today, Pillsbury announced the arrival of Joshua Becker to the firm’s highly regarded Tax and Private Wealth team. Becker will practice in the firm’s New York office.

Becker comes to the firm with more than 10 years of experience as a tax attorney and consultant at international law firms and accounting firms, most recently at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel. Immediately prior to joining Pillsbury, Becker served as a founding member of a multi-family office and investment management platform dedicated to the needs of blockchain and digital asset investors, founders, and entrepreneurs.

Among his high-profile real estate and private equity deals, Becker has handled the restructuring of a multi-billion dollar  Hudson Yards office tower joint venture; represented a significant foreign investor in its investment in a $600 million joint venture for the development of a San Francisco waterfront property; represented a $70 billion AUM fund in its preferred investment in an iconic NYC building; formed a $2 billion distressed real estate fund; advised on the purchase of a $950 million professional employer organization; advised on the application of Section 1061 on gain resulting from the sale of a $750 million private equity owned retail business, and advised on the purchase of a $400 million real estate technology firm.

“With our private wealth clients facing so many estate and tax planning challenges in the past several years, especially those arising from the pandemic and new proposed tax legislation, Josh’s arrival comes at a great time for our burgeoning practice,” said James Chudy, leader of Pillsbury’s Tax practice. “His extensive experience and contacts in the industry will be a boon to our clients as we navigate this quickly evolving landscape.”
