Washington Arbitration Week 2026

Pillsbury is proud to once again participate in Washington Arbitration Week (WAW), taking place in Washington, DC, October 26–30, 2026. Through a wide-ranging series of panel discussions, WAW brings together leading voices from across the international arbitration community to examine timely issues and emerging developments in investor-state and international commercial arbitration and public international law.

In addition to sponsoring this year’s event, four Pillsbury attorneys will serve on panels during the week’s discussions.

Monday, October 26 at Womble Bond & Dickinson:
Rafael Boza will speak on the panel, “Beyond the BIT: Contractual Claims in ISDS,” from 9:00–10:15 am.

Wednesday, October 28 at Pillsbury:
Gary Shaw will moderate the panel, “Enforcing Arbitral Awards Against States Sovereign Immunity, U.S. Court Litigation and Structural Barriers to Investment Award Enforcement,” from 12:00–1:15 pm.

Wednesday, October 28 at Pillsbury:
Pillsbury will host the panel, “The U.S. as Foreign Policy Actor: OFAC, CFIUS & Arbitration,” from 1:25–2:40 pm.

Thursday, October 29 at Steptoe LLP:
Richard Deutsch will speak on the panel, “War, Tariffs, Illicit Trade & Trade Wars: Force Majeure and the Evolving Arbitration Docket,” from 9:00–10:15 am.

Friday, October 30 at Compass Lexecon:
David Stute will speak on the panel, “Splitting the Atom – Nuclear Related Disputes & the Role of Arbitration,” from 9:00–10:15 am.
