For the second consecutive year, Pillsbury receives enhanced coverage in the World Trademark Review 1000 section for 2020 with promotions on the prosecution, strategy, litigation and enforcement tables singling out Edward Cavazos, Carolyn Toto, Patricia Cotton, Kenneth Keller, Vijay Toke, Patrick Jennings and Richard Kirkpatrick as leading practitioners in the field. Patrick Jennings and Richard Kirkpatrick also received national recognition.
“The Pillsbury team is clearly a world-class IP group with extensive experience in complex IP litigation and strategic counselling,” the review stated.
Los Angeles partner and internet and social media team co-head Carolyn Toto acts for technology leaders in all IP areas and across the contentious/non-contentious divide. The review stated that Toto “affords the highest level of representation and provides key insights on strategy, she is detail oriented and maintains a mastery of all aspects of her cases.”
A new addition to Pillbury's rankings, Patty Cotton is a special counsel in the Silicon Valley office with an emphasis on prosecution and enforcement. Described as having a deft touch on oppositions, cancellations and domain name disputes, Cotton’s clients praised her work stating that “her advice is practical and business-oriented and advances the appropriate scope and extent of protection cost-effectively.”
San Francisco-based partner Kenneth Keller was praised along with counsel Vijay Toke. The review noted that Keller and Toke are among the most proficient and professional lawyers anywhere. According to the review, they bring a rare combination of extensive experience, technical excellence, creativity and organizational structure to complex cases.
According to the review, DC-based partner Patrick Jennings was enthusiastically endorsed by foreign associates. During the WTR 1000 2020 research cycle, Jennings picked up spontaneous recommendations from Brazil, Canada, Israel and the United Kingdom.
