Pillsbury advises and assist cable MSOs, wireless cable systems, open video systems, and cable and fiber networks regarding regulatory and transactional matters.

Pillsbury has an active Communications practice that represented some of the first cable systems in the United States in the 1950s. Since then, our Communications lawyers have worked with cable MSOs, wireless cable systems, open video systems, and cable networks, providing comprehensive regulatory guidance and representing them in transactional matters. Further, we have advised major cable television program service providers in matters ranging from daily regulatory issues to leveraged buyouts, and have assisted both municipal and private ventures in implementing fiber-based telephone, broadband data, and video services.

Our team members have extensive experience in the application of the Copyright Act to multichannel video providers, and have advocated for our clients regarding cable and satellite copyright rate setting and have participated in royalty distribution proceedings since 1978. Pillsbury’s Communication lawyers have also appeared before the Federal Communications Commission and Federal Courts of Appeals in a number of complex administrative proceedings involving cable and copyright issues.
