Chris Albrecht has extensive experience addressing the complexities of California alcohol beverage laws and regulations. He is not an attorney.
Prior to joining Pillsbury, Chris had over three decades of experience in the public sector, including 24 years with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), where he served as the agency’s assistant director and oversaw its Northern California field operations. Throughout his career, Chris was involved with every aspect of ABC law, including licensing, trade practices, enforcement, legislation and the fiscal management of statewide programs.

Chris provides assistance to attorneys on the Wine, Beer and Spirts team and works directly with clients on matters involving retail, wholesale and supplier alcohol licensing, trade practices and regulatory compliance, specializing in complex ownership structures and tied-house and promotional/marketing strategies.
Representative Experience
- As a member of the ABC’s executive staff, participated in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Department’s policies in all program areas, including trade practices.
- As the Department’s primary liaison to the state legislature and industry stakeholders, prepared analysis on proposed legislation, consulted with industry and legislative staff on regulatory considerations associated with pending bills, and testified before legislative committees.
