Samuel Bucher advises owners, developers and investors on complex commercial real estate and construction transactions with particular experience involving data centers, mixed-use developments, and commercial and industrial properties.
Sam assists clients with acquisitions and dispositions, development transactions, secured financings and refinancings, and construction and commercial leasing matters. He has particular experience with development-oriented transactions, including raw land acquisitions for data center projects, where diligence, survey review, purchase and sale negotiations, and construction planning intersect. He also drafts and negotiates construction-related agreements, including complex design-build and construction management arrangements.

Before practicing law, Sam worked in construction project management for contractors on public design-build and design-bid-build projects in the water, transportation and medical sectors. That experience gives him a practical understanding of development and structural issues and helps him identify potential risks early while keeping the client’s business objectives in focus. Sam regularly works with private real estate funds, pension funds, professional sports organizations, universities and other institutional clients on complex real estate transactions.

- Represented a client in connection with the development of a master-planned data center and related critical infrastructure project in New Mexico with a projected value of $165 billion.
- Represented a publicly traded company in the $1 billion acquisition and operational turnover of office headquarters building and related infrastructure in California.
- Assisted a leading private research university in comprehensively overhauling and updating its standard construction management and architectural agreements with contractors and design professionals.

- Represented a major state pension fund in its due diligence, acquisition, financing and disposition of multifamily, industrial, office and retail properties across the country, including California, Arizona, Georgia, Kansas, Minnesota, North Carolina and Florida.
- Advised a leading data center developer in the drafting and negotiation of construction and design-build agreements for several data center projects throughout Texas.
