A team of Pillsbury lawyers advised their longtime client, the San Francisco Giants, on the team’s acquisition of San Francisco’s historic Curran Theatre from Carole Shorenstein Hays.
The theater, built in 1922 and having featured many historic premieres, will continue to be controlled by Ambassador Theater Group. Shorenstein Hays acquired the venue in 2010 and refurbished it in 2016.
“Acquiring the Curran expands our commitment to San Francisco and reinforces our core belief that sports, arts and culture are essential to San Francisco’s identity, economy and resurgence," said Giants President and CEO Larry Baer. "We intend to honor the Curran’s storied past steeped in Broadway shows and musicals and continue to build and expand the offerings of live performances reflective of our city’s culture, inclusive of music, comedy and family entertainment."
Among the works it helped premiere pre-Broadway are August Wilson's Fences and Wicked. The venue was immortalized on screen as the "Broadway" theatre featured in All About Eve.
Noa Clark, a Real Estate partner in San Francisco, led the Pillsbury team, which included Real Estate partner Robert Herr, counsel Robert Howard, associate Samuel Bucher and senior legal analyst Jasmine Gurreri, and Litigation partner Carrie Bonnington.
Also this year, Pillsbury advised the Giants in its strategic partnership with Sixth Street, a leading global investment firm. To read more, see here.
