In addition to the primary focus of developing and implementing insolvency, restructuring regimes across the MENA region, this “First MENA Forum” will analyze and address a diverse range of topics, including courts specialization in bankruptcy issues, tracing and recovery of assets, preventive action to save viable firms, capacity building for judges and judicial e-learning tools, the use of mediation and other ADR tools in large, medium and small insolvency.

Pillsbury's Patrick Potter will participate in a panel discussing medium and small  restructurings, chaired by Andres Martinez, a Senior Financial Sector Specialist from The World Bank Group.

Mr. Potter will speak on Sub-Chapter V of Chapter 11, which became effective in the U.S. in 2020, and covers chapter 11 debtors whose fixed non-insider debts are $7.5 million or less.  Mr. Potter’s co-panelists will be Judge Nehad Al-Hussban, President of Amman Court of First Instance in Jordan, Judge Mohommed Abdel-Aal, Chief of High Court of Appeal (and Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Legislative Reform in Egypt), and Attorney Lucas Kortmann, a partner with the insolvency and restructuring law firm RESOR, in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
