The United States continues to attract inbound immigration, including from high-net-worth clients. While these individuals generally reach out to immigration attorneys when making such a move, they don’t always reach out to tax or estate planning attorneys, which can have adverse tax consequences, both in the short and long term. This session will address pre-immigration planning information and constructive steps for those high-net-worth clients moving to the United States, either temporarily or permanently. Residency, income tax and estate tax issues will be addressed, as will common scenarios.
