On August 13, the Los Angeles Business Journal named Pillsbury partners Robert Wallan and Kim Buffington to its list of the region’s Top Litigators. This prestigious list identifies 50 lawyers in Los Angeles as the very best in the business, noting, “These are the lawyers you want in your corner in court.”

The Business Journal pointed to Buffington’s track record in complex intellectual property, commercial class actions and insurance coverage matters. Buffington is the managing partner of Pillsbury’s 85-lawyer Los Angeles office and the co-leader of the firm’s Internet & Social Media team, which the LABJ reports is highly regarded for its blog posts. Among her recent successes, the publication cited Buffington’s work for Fluidmaster, in which a judge denied class certification for homeowner plaintiffs suing the company.

In its profile of Wallan, the Business Journal reports that he founded and co-chairs the firm’s insurance policyholder practice, frequently representing clients seeking coverage under their D&O, cyber and other liability insurance policies. Wallan also served as the managing partner of Pillsbury’s Los Angeles office for six years and headed the Los Angeles litigation group for a decade. Among his recent matters, Wallan successfully represented The Broad in federal insurance coverage litigation after the museum’s insurer denied coverage for underlying litigation relating to the design and construction of the iconic museum.
