HOUSTON – Pillsbury today announced the arrival of litigator Charles C. Conrad to the firm’s Houston office. He joins the firm as a partner from Coats Rose, P.C.

“We have been keen to grow our Houston office, which is a critical hub for our energy and infrastructure clients,” said Firm Chair David Dekker. “Charles brings substantial additional strength to our Texas litigation practice.”

Conrad’s practice includes complex commercial disputes in the energy and construction industries, both onshore and offshore. He assists owners, EPC contractors and other contractors in potential and actual construction disputes involving petrochemical refineries, infrastructure, heavy industrial process facilities, commercial and multifamily buildings, schools, offshore platform construction, and vessel construction. He also litigates matters involving oil and gas, admiralty/maritime, transportation, and catastrophic personal injury litigation.

Conrad said: “When I looked at Pillsbury, I saw a firm that was doing work in the same areas as my practice at the very highest levels. For that reason and with the firm’s global platform, I see a bright future for growing my practice in construction and energy – both being areas in which Pillsbury has been consistently ranked among the market leaders.”

“Charles builds on some of our core strengths in litigation, including major construction and infrastructure litigation, and international arbitration,” said Litigation Practice Section Leader Deborah Baum. “And he does this in a place where we want to keep growing – Texas.”

Conrad is one of several new litigation partners joining Pillsbury in recent weeks, including international arbitration partner Deborah Ruff in London, former Assistant U.S. Attorney Markenzy Lapointe in Miami, labor and employment partner Jean Kuei in Washington, DC, and veteran trial lawyer Ken Keller in San Francisco.
