Pillsbury’s Corporate Investigations & White Collar Defense capabilities have been recognized by Global Investigations Review in the publication’s annual GIR 100 list. Based on extensive marketplace research, this go-to directory identifies the 100 leading cross-border investigations practices each year. This year’s list was unveiled at a special ceremony on October 26 and ranks Pillsbury among other top global firms.

In its write-up of the firm, GIR lauds Pillsbury’s efforts on behalf of numerous financial institutions to secure non-prosecution agreements under the Department of Justice’s Swiss bank program. Pillsbury negotiated settlements under the program for several clients, including one of Switzerland’s largest private banks and one of that country’s largest cantonal banks, in addition to four others. The group is also praised for its successful defense of ex-Magyar Telekom executive András Balogh in an FCPA case; its representation of FIFA development officer Julio Rocha in a well-publicized bribery matter; and its ongoing role as counsel to a large Japanese company facing parallel civil and criminal probes into alleged False Claims Act and Anti-Kickback Statute breaches.

The firm profile also recognizes a number of Pillsbury lawyers as leading individual practitioners. Highly regarded Corporate Investigations & White Collar Defense team co-leaders Mark Hellerer (New York) and William Sullivan (Washington, DC and New York) are commended for their extensive work on behalf of clients, as are New York partners Maria Galeno and Carolina Fornos. All four are former federal prosecutors. In addition, London counsel Gurmeet Sidhu—who works with energy and pharmaceutical companies on antitrust, compliance and white-collar matters—is acknowledged.

Earlier this year, Litigation counsel Anne Lefever was named to GIR’s 40 Under 40 list for 2017, acknowledging her as one of the 40 leading investigations specialists helping to forge the future of investigations law and litigation.

Pillsbury’s Corporate Investigations & White Collar Defense practice successfully represents U.S. and international clients in large-scale and cross-border government inquiries and civil and criminal litigation. The firm’s lawyers are leaders in defending corporate clients, their officers, board members and executives in federal and state grand jury investigations, state attorney general investigations, regulatory enforcement proceedings, and civil and criminal forfeiture proceedings.
