Pillsbury has welcomed counsel John Davis back to its New York office as Head of eDiscovery Consulting within Pillsbury’s Chambers-ranked Information Law and Electronic Discovery practice. A seasoned litigator with over 20 years of experience, Davis will help expand the firm’s capabilities in data-driven litigation, large-scale investigations, data privacy matters and information governance.

Davis brings a unique dual perspective to the firm, having served both as in-house and external counsel for major corporations. His work focuses on managing discovery risk from inception through trial, with particular emphasis on the evolving data environments that define modern litigation and the advanced tools and workflows required to manage cases effectively. He frequently leads cross-border investigations involving fraud, trade secrets theft, sanctions violations, and high-stakes security incidents.

“John understands that in today’s legal landscape, winning a case often depends on rapidly mastering the data that defines it,” said David Stanton, leader of Pillsbury’s Information Law & Electronic Discovery practice. “His deep technical expertise and business-minded approach to data-driven investigations make John a key asset for clients facing increasingly sophisticated regulatory environments, rapidly expanding data volumes, and the efficiencies made possible by the responsible use of generative AI.”

Davis is recognized for his work integrating advanced analytics and artificial intelligence into litigation workflows to improve efficiency and manage discovery at scale. He frequently advises clients on establishing compliant practices across diverse disciplines, including data breach investigations and information governance.

“Pillsbury’s reputation for innovation and its multidisciplinary approach to litigation provides the perfect platform for my practice,” Davis said. “I look forward to collaborating with this talented team to help our clients deploy advanced analytics and AI-enabled workflows in their most complex matters.”

Davis is a frequent writer and lecturer on the intersection of law and technology. His arrival reinforces Pillsbury’s investment in incident response, information governance, and proprietary analytics capabilities that support high-stakes digital investigations.
