United Natural Foods Inc., a distributor of more than 65,000 products to more than 31,000 customer locations throughout the United States and Canada, has finished its $195.3 million acquisition of Tony’s Fine Foods, a West Sacramento, Calif.-based distributor of perishable food products throughout the Western United States, Alaska and Hawaii. Tony’s, founded in 1934, will become a wholly owned subsidiary of United Natural Foods.

“Natural protein and specialty perishable products are a very important part of [United Natural’s] future,” said United CEO Steven Spinner. “Tony’s Fine Foods will serve as our platform for building out our national perimeter product offering. These fast-growing products will help us further expand market share as we build out our retail store SKU offering.”
