Pillsbury is pleased to announce the addition of Zachary Atkins to its renowned State & Local Tax (SALT) practice. Atkins will join Pillsbury’s Nashville office as a special counsel to expand the firm’s nationwide SALT practice.

Atkins previously served as a deputy general counsel to Fitzgerald USA handling a diverse range of projects from tax to corporate matters. Prior to joining Fitzgerald, his practice focused primarily on state and local tax issues as an associate at Eversheds Sutherland from 2010 to 2017.

Atkins advises clients in the technology, communications, media, manufacturing and energy sectors in all phases of multistate tax controversy, from audit to trial to appeals. He represents clients on state and local tax planning, compliance, and transactional matters. He has frequently presented at national and regional tax conferences held by the the Council on State Taxation, the Tax Executives Institute, Inc., and the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, among others.

Having previously practiced in Atlanta and now based in Nashville, Zack also expands the multistate presence of our national SALT practice to the Southeast.”

Atkins is licensed to practice in Tennessee, Georgia and New York. He earned an LL.M. in Taxation at New York University School of Law and interned at both the SEC and the Georgia Department of Revenue’s Office of Tax Law & Policy.
