The workshop is in cooperation with Commercial Law Development Program and Dubai Economic Council, and will focus on (1) broad regulatory reform to encourage local and regional insolvency laws that comport with global standards, (2) helping improve delays in the existing systems, and (3) encouraging the decriminalization of bankruptcy proceedings.

Mr. Potter is part of a delegation that includes experts from the World Bank, INSOL, private sector law firms, and local quasi-government entities, as well as a Sharia’h Finance Scholar and a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge. This regional workshop is part of a broader multiphase program aimed at engaging the judiciary, private sector, government and civil society organizations in collectively encouraging insolvency reform that aligns with international best practices.
