Pillsbury’s Carrie Bonnington has been recognized by Daily Journal as one of California’s top young lawyers in the publication’s 10th-annual “Top 40 Under 40” list. Last year, Bonnington, a Litigation partner, was appointed Managing Partner of the firm’s Sacramento office, and two years ago she was named leader of the Wine, Beer and Spirits Law practice group.

In its profile, Daily Journal highlighted Bonnington’s recent work with clients in connection with cannabis law and casinos. She calls the emerging area of cannabis law a “natural outgrowth” of her work in the alcohol beverage industry and says her work with tribal casinos has given her unique insight into how tribal sovereignty affects tribes’ relationships with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Bonnington has extensive alcohol beverage industry knowledge and advises a variety of clients on litigation, regulatory and transactional matters, including handling administrative hearings before the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. She teaches Wine Law at Berkeley Law School and frequently lectures at other universities and at national alcohol beverage regulatory conferences. In addition to this latest recognition, she is Chambers-ranked and has been named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers three years in a row.
