SAN FRANCISCO – As it executes on its expansion plans, Pillsbury has brought on two veteran insolvency and restructuring lawyers, Joshua Morse, who will join as a partner, and Jonathan Doolittle, who will join as special counsel. Morse comes to Pillsbury from DLA Piper, while Doolittle is from Reed Smith. They will be resident in San Francisco.

“This is part of a practice expansion plan we embarked on a year ago, to expand our insolvency and restructuring offerings on the West Coast and nationwide,” said Leo Crowley, head of Pillsbury’s Insolvency & Restructuring practice. “It was not a short-term reaction to the COVID-19 crisis.”

As an Insolvency & Restructuring partner, Morse focuses on all aspects of corporate restructurings, special situations and bankruptcy proceedings, and represents bondholders, debtors, secured lenders, indenture trustees and ad hoc and official committees. His experience includes both out-of-court restructuring negotiations and representing constituencies in complex matters in bankruptcy courts throughout the U.S. He serves clients across a wide range of industries and sectors, including technology, gaming, media, retail, aerospace, transportation, oil and gas, power generation, mining and manufacturing.

Doolittle represents secured creditors, trustees and debtors in bankruptcy, federal and state court proceedings across a wide range of business sectors, and negotiates and documents out-of-court restructurings. He has substantial experience representing secured parties in Uniform Commercial Code Article Nine sales and non-judicial foreclosures, as well as receivers and trustees liquidating real estate and other property. Additionally, he represents financial institutions and other businesses in federal and state courts throughout the U.S.

“Pillsbury provides an excellent platform for me to continue to expand the scope and breadth of my practice and was particularly attractive given its deep connections across many industries in California and beyond,” Morse said. “I also look forward to working with this collegial, collaborative group, and with Jon, as we share many synergies.”
