The National LGBT Bar Association has selected Pillsbury associates Jessica Bogo and Matthew Putorti as two of the best LGBT lawyers in the United States under the age of 40. Both will be recognized at an awards ceremony during the 2016 Lavender Law® Conference and Career Fair in Washington, D.C., on August 5.

Brian Wong, the firm’s executive partner for diversity and inclusion, noted: “Making this prestigious list requires excellent lawyering skills, demonstrated leadership in the legal community and steadfast commitment to LGBT equality. Jessica and Matt’s inclusion is a testament to the hard work and numerous contributions they have made to, and on behalf of, the firm. It also reflects Pillsbury’s inclusive culture and devotion to hiring and developing the next generation of great lawyers.”

The LGBT Bar established its “Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40” award to recognize outstanding lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender legal professionals under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves in their field and demonstrated a profound commitment to LGBT equality. Bogo is an associate in Pillsbury’s Litigation practice, a member of the firm’s Professional Responsibility Committee, and the Chair of the San Francisco Summer Associate Program. Her practice focuses on construction litigation, contract disputes, class action litigation, and antitrust and unfair competition litigation, including international cartel investigations and follow-on litigation. She is Co-Chair of Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom (BALIF), the oldest and largest LGBT bar association in the country, and also volunteers with the San Francisco Bar Association’s Mock Trial Program as an attorney coach of the Balboa High School team.

Putorti is a Litigation associate in the law firm’s New York office, a member of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, and a member of the New York office’s Hiring and Summer Committees. He concentrates his practice on advising and representing individual and corporate policyholders in insurance coverage matters. In the community, he has served as a member of the International Human Rights Committee of the New York City Bar Association and a delegate of the Committee’s fact-finding trip to Northern Ireland, President of Stonewall Quarter Share (the young donor’s circle supporting the Stonewall Community Foundation), and member of alumni committees for Fordham Law School, the Fordham International Law Journal, and Boston College. The Fordham OUTLaws presented Putorti with the Michael B. Davis-Elyse Hilton Alumni Award in 2016.

With Bogo and Putorti’s inclusion, Pillsbury has now had three attorneys recognized on the LGBT Bar’s “Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40” list. San Francisco senior associate Jeff Jacobi’s previously received the honor in 2013.
