Michelle Ng, a litigation counsel fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese, advocates for her clients’ interests and helps resolve their legal disputes and regulatory matters efficiently.

Michelle represents a broad range of international companies (including U.S. and Chinese corporations with operations in both China and the United States) to attentively manage their litigation and business needs. Since 2020, her victories have included obtaining judgments in U.S.-China litigations for $41 million, $87 million and $139 million. She has also obtained confidential settlements in large litigation matters.

Michelle has handled every aspect of litigation, beginning with commencing an action, through discovery, working with experts, motion practice and trial. Michelle also has argued and won multiple motions to compel and for sanctions against defendants in international litigations. Additionally, she has completed a secondment in the Legal and Compliance Department at the federal branch of a top-five Chinese state-owned bank in New York, during which she took the lead on discrete compliance and contractual issues for the bank, and directly reported to the General Counsel. Michelle has taught at Fordham University School of Law, and frequently speaks on U.S.-China legal issues, including as a returning speaker and moderator at the University of Cambridge’s International Symposium on Economic Crime.

Representative Experience

  • Originated and won an international arbitration regarding a joint venture, obtaining an $87 million award plus 4.25% interest for an international client. This award has been confirmed in the United States and Cayman Islands. The arbitration tribunal also awarded the client a $2.2 million fee award, plus 4.25% interest.
  • Completed a multi-year secondment at a top-5 Chinese bank’s federal branch in New York, handling regulatory and commercial contract related matters and advising on consumer compliance issues.
  • Assisted in defending a major financial institution against terrorism-related allegations in a major international litigation, including overseas depositions and managing discovery. The litigation was voluntarily dismissed by plaintiffs.
