Pillsbury has advised Goldman Sachs, as lead book-running manager, and fellow underwriters Barclays, BofA Merrill Lynch, J.P. Morgan, MUFG and Wells Fargo Securities in Great Plains Energy’s $4.3 billion issuance of senior notes. The offering priced on March 6 and closed on March 9.

Proceeds from the transaction, combined with those generated by Great Plains’ $2.5 billion equity securities offering last fall, will be used to finance the company’s pending $9 billion acquisition of Westar Energy, the largest electric utility in Kansas.

The Pillsbury team advising the underwriters of this transaction was led by partner Todd Eckland and assisted by associate Stephanie Langan. Partner Harsha Reddy (tax) and associate Eileen Monahan (corporate) were also involved.
