The American Lawyer has selected Brookfield Business Partners L.P.’s $4.6 billion acquisition of Westinghouse Electric Company, in which Pillsbury advised on critical regulatory and policy issues, as a finalist for its 2018 Global M&A Deal of the Year. The publication’s annual Global Legal Awards program, now in its sixth year, honors work that highlights the complex international legal issues law firms face and overcome for clients.

More than 200 entries were submitted this year, each detailing law firms’ most complex and innovative work. Overall winners in each of four categories will be announced at a December 5th award ceremony in New York.

The core team providing strategic counsel to Brookfield on this market-leading transaction included Pillsbury energy partners Jeffrey Merrifield, Jay Silberg, Elina Teplinsky and Michael Lepre, special counsel Timothy Walsh and senior associate Anne Leidich. Public policy partner Elizabeth Moeller, senior counsel Gregory Laughlin and counsel Craig Saperstein, and Energy senior attorney Vince Zabielski also played critical roles in the transaction.
