Global Restructuring Review has recognized Pilsbury in its 2026 GRR 100 guide, marking another year of inclusion for the firm’s Insolvency & Restructuring practice. The annual guide highlights leading law firms that advise on complex cross-border restructurings and insolvencies.

The representations featured in this year’s profile include:

  • Pillsbury’s work for Nikola Corporation in chapter 11 proceedings involving more than $1 billion in liabilities. The team obtained expedited bidding procedures that allowed an auction within 45 days of filing, advised on asset sales to a Lucid Motors affiliate and other buyers, and secured approval of a liquidation plan following a contested confirmation hearing.
  • The firm’s ongoing representation of the joint official liquidators of two Cayman Islands investment funds seeking recoveries arising from a fraud involving more than $120 million.
  • Pillsbury’s work for National Bank of Kuwait in navigating repeated borrower bankruptcy filings and the bank’s acquisition of a Houston office building through a credit bid.
  • Pillsbury’s representation of UConn Health in the acquisition of Prospect Waterbury Hospital through a contested chapter 11 sale.

The guide also notes the practice’s growing international reach, featuring the April 2025 launch of a dedicated London restructuring practice led by partner Natasha Atkinson. Her arrival strengthened the firm’s capabilities in transatlantic and English-law matters.

Together, the group has 20 lawyers, including 11 partners, across the firm’s Boston, Houston, London, New York, Palm Beach, San Francisco and Washington, DC offices, with experience handling insolvencies involving matters throughout the world including in the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin Islands, Ireland, Singapore and Brazil.

Led by New York partner Andrew Troop, the practice brings together lawyers with experience across international insolvency, distressed real estate and creditors’ rights. The profile identifies Rahman Connelly and John Pintarelli as co-leaders of the Chapter 15, cross-border and international insolvency group; Patrick Fitzmaurice, Dania Slim and Joshua Morse as leaders in real estate insolvency and distressed real estate; and Hugh McDonald as co-leader of the creditors’ rights group. It also featured partners Michael Burke, John Storz, Hugh Ray and Natasha Atkinson as standouts within the practice.

Client commentary further emphasized the team’s strategic approach. Praising Troop’s leadership, one client stated: “Andrew Troop led the representation. He provided extremely valuable legal advice and practical, strategic insights.”
