For the 12th time, Pillsbury has earned recognition from Working Mother as one of 2017’s 100 Best Companies. The list honors companies whose benefits and policies show a commitment to supporting and nurturing the careers of working mothers. The firm also was named a best law firm for women by the publication earlier this summer.

To be included on Working Mother’s list, companies must submit an application that includes more than 400 questions covering subjects such as work-life balance, benefits, professional development opportunities, time-off policies and more. Working Mother also focuses on employee usage of available programs and the accountability of those who oversee them.

Along with Pillsbury’s inclusion on the list, Intellectual Property partner and practice co-leader Callie Bjurstrom was named a 2017 Working Mother of the Year. Bjurstrom’s Working Mother profile highlights her leadership of a Pillsbury team that secured a verdict for $12 million in damages against retail giant Wal-Mart on behalf of a small San Diego web development client, among other victories during her 29 years as a trial lawyer.

Bjustrom rose through the ranks of the legal profession while raising two sons, now teenagers, and knows well the challenges of balancing a demanding profession and motherhood.

“I raised my boys at a time when there were not many, if any, flexible options for women lawyers who wanted to be partner,” she tells Working Mother. “I am proud to be with a firm that has made great strides to change that.”

In addition to the Pillsbury’s regular inclusion on Working Mother’s lists of top companies and best law firms, the firm regularly obtains a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index and has been recognized as a 2017 “Top Company for Executive Women” by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE). Pillsbury also was acknowledged this year by Chambers & Partners as Law Firm of the Year in Furthering Women’s Career Progression, Talent Management and Mentoring.
