A team of Pillsbury lawyers, led by Corporate partners Craig Chason and Ellen Grady, advised Aries Defense on its recent acquisition by Sigma Defense Systems, a leading provider of Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control (CJADC2); Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR); and Development, Security and Operations (DevSecOps) solutions.
Founded in 2017, Aries Defense is a U.S.-based defense technology company specializing in tactical video and sensor integration, with a focus on capturing and distributing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and unattended sensor data for real-time situational awareness.
Aries Defense’s portfolio includes purpose-built products designed to connect cameras, UAVs and unattended sensors into secure tactical networks, enabling persistent surveillance and full-motion video (FMV) in denied, degraded, intermittent and limited (D-DIL) environments. Its technologies are also fielded under U.S. Marine Corps programs of record.
The acquisition strengthens Sigma Defense’s CJADC2 capabilities by integrating Aries Defense’s proven edge intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) solutions with Sigma’s Olympus ecosystem—a DevSecOps-enabled platform for software development, orchestration and multi-domain data fusion. Together, the combined capabilities will support secure, real-time sharing of ISR video and sensor data across the joint force, ensuring seamless information flow from the tactical edge to the CJADC2 enterprise.
