Julia provides critical and strategic counseling on all facets of the employment relationship and advises on legal compliance, credentialing, ethics and disciplinary codes, ADA accessibility, diversity and inclusion, and governance, as well as affirmative action compliance for government contractors. She works closely with both staff leadership and boards, who value her subject matter expertise, deep understanding of her clients’ goals and organizations, and consistently high caliber work. Julia helps clients achieve their goals, avoiding litigation where possible, while placing clients in a strong position should the need to initiate or defend a lawsuit arise. She also frequently partners with her colleagues in the public policy practice to achieve clients’ objectives in the legislative or regulatory arenas, as well as teaming with litigation attorneys to address disputes relating to nonprofit, credentialing, or employment legal issues.
Julia is a regular speaker on employment and nonprofit legal issues and writes frequently on these topics. Her extensive publications and speaking engagements illustrate the breadth and depth of her thought leadership and expertise in her areas of practice.
Julia also maintains a commitment to pro bono practice, with a particular focus on providing legal ethics counsel to nonprofit legal services organizations.
Represents the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants in certification, disciplinary, governance, employment, government relations, and litigation matters, working regularly with both staff leadership and the NCCPA Board.
Represents large government contractor on wide spectrum of employment and affirmative action compliance matters, working closely with Board members, executive leadership, and human resources staff on sensitive internal investigations, resolving employment disputes, hiring processes, and developing and implementing policies to support compliance and business success.
Legal advisor to the Professional Certification Coalition, an association of certification organizations, professional societies, and other related organizations; provides subject matter expertise, analysis, and strategic advice to the Coalition on state and federal legislation initiatives affecting the certification community.
