The Deal has awarded the sale of Chelsea Football Club—on which Pillsbury advised—as a Deal of the Year for the Private Equity category.

A team of Pillsbury lawyers served as legal counsel to Chelsea Football Club in its acquisition by a consortium led by Todd Boehly, chairman and CEO of Eldridge, a private investment company, and Clearlake Capital Group, L.P. The Chelsea transaction includes a $3.08 billion (£2.5 billion) purchase of shares, plus $2.14 billion (£1.75 billion) for further investments to benefit the club.
