A cross-office Pillsbury team led by partners Ron Fleming and Drew Simon-Rooke represented K1x, an AI-native private markets tax data platform, in a $175 million growth investment led by Sumeru Equity Partners, with additional investment from current investor Edison Partners.
Sumeru will become the majority shareholder as part of the transaction, while Edison’s participation represents its third investment in the business since 2022, as K1x enters the next chapter of its growth journey and accelerates its mission towards digitizing the K-1 ecosystem.
Additionally, K1x intends to invest this growth capital to deepen its core platform capabilities, accelerate product development and the application of machine learning and generative AI, and strengthen its customer experience and support infrastructure.
In addition to ECVC/Corporate partners Ron Fleming and Drew Simon-Rooke, the Pillsbury team included counsels Tara Shankar, Taylor O’Toole and Brandon Eckford, and associates Jon Schreiber and Thomas Ly; Intellectual Property partner Sandro Serra; Executive Compensation & Benefits partner Jessica Lutrin and senior associate Ryan Kenny; and Tax partners Nora Burke and Joshua Becker.
