London—At the European Outsourcing Association's 2010 Awards held this week in Brussels, Pillsbury's Global Sourcing practice won Best Multi-Sourcing Project of the Year on behalf of pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline. Pillsbury was recognized for its work for GSK's worldwide real estate function on a year-long engagement which culminated in the signing of master services agreements with GSK's chosen service providers covering three distinct service towers. Together, these transactions covers the full range of facilities management (FM) and real estate services, spanning soft FM services such as catering, concierge and document production services, hard FM services such as space planning, building maintenance and engineering services, as well as manned guarding security services. The project was also shortlisted by the European Outsourcing Association in one other category.

For each deal, Pillsbury negotiated a five-year arrangement for provision of services at various GSK' sites across the UK, US and Latin America, as well as future rollout plans for sites across Asia and Europe. The firm was involved from the RFP stage and assisted with the down select to the chosen suppliers in each of the three areas, negotiating with the service providers and drafting the contracts. These agreements are expected to realize very significant savings for the client within a short (sub-two year) payback.

"We were able to maximize these agreements by assisting GSK with the creation of a service delivery model that can be leveraged across other GSK sites and business units, and which commits service providers to delivering standardized services and KPIs on a global basis in line with pricing models which not only saves them money, but which rewards each service provider for finding additional savings. GSK is a very important client and I am personally delighted that we have been able to assist them on this important project which will deliver benefits across the entire organization," said Pillsbury London partner Tim Wright, who, along with DC counsel John Nicholson, led the teams working with GSK on the assignment over a period of nearly 12 months.
